“Great day of Rejoicing on March 25th, 2023 for the Daughters of Providence of Nebbi in Uganda, said Sr. Emma Mudrik, Daughter of Providence of St-Brieuc, Formator and Accompanist of the Daughters of Providence of Nebbi, Uganda. We woke up to a bright Sunshine, with not a single cloud in sight. Providence has given us a perfect day for the long-awaited Celebration of Vows! The Annunciation of the Lord, with the Virgin Mary in the Center, created the atmosphere for the FIAT by which the 7 Sisters were going to commit themselves.

Mgr Raphaël Wokorach, Bishop of the Diocese of Nebbi, was the Main Celebrant, and with him, Sr Louise Touchette, Superior General of the Daughters of Providence of Saint-Brieuc received the Vows of the New Sisters, Vicky, Gloria and Cecilia.

Commitment of the 7 Sisters this March 25th, ,2023 in Nebbi, Uganda. Magnificat!

The Joy of their commitment to Christ and the Community exploded in the Chapel when the three Sisters began to dance, accompanied by the Rhythm of the Drums and by much Applause and Hugs.

The three Novices were surrounded by members of their family, some from the distant Diocese of Hoima, accompanied by the Vicar of Cissy’s Parish.

It was a happy reunion for all the candidates because covid 19 had limited travel and family visits. The Canonist of the Diocese of Lira, the Vicar of the Religious and Priests of the Diocese of Nebbi were present for the celebration. Brother Ambrose, FIC, represented the Provincial of the Brothers of Christian Instruction.

Sisters Sabina, Loice Emmanuela and Felicity renewed their Vows. Here with the Bishop.

The three Sisters with Temporary Vows: Sabina, Loice Emmanuela and Felicity, renewed their vows with enthusiasm and the assembly was once again filled with Joyful dancing and Singing.

At the moment of communion, Sister Maria Amony renewed her Perpetual Vows.

5 Tribes, 3 Dioceses, 2 Countries

The final chant was, as it should be, “I will send you to all the Nations…” Indeed, these Sisters themselves come from five different Tribes and three different Dioceses, one of them even coming from another Country.

Simplicity and a warm Spirit of Hospitality marked the entire event. After the photos were taken, everyone gathered under the white tents decorated in yellow and blue, for the banquet prepared and proudly served by the catering service of the Providence Technical School.

No party here is complete without Speeches, Songs, Dances, and Skits. A Representative of each family thanked the Providence Institute and expressed their love and gratitude.

Various songs and dances from different Cultures were joyfully performed by the young people in Formation and the Vision-Mission Statement of the Daughters of Providence was sung by the group, accompanied by skits, one of which described the Spirituality and Mission of the Institute. The Bishop’s final Address was a mixture of humor and earnest comments directed at the Sisters’ parents. A prayer and a Blessing closed the last part of the day.

Guests lingered in the compound of Providence to visit and enjoy the company of families and friends while praising God for His merciful love and blessings.

MAGNIFICAT!!! MAGNIFICAT!!! MAGNIFICAT!!!
