Kneel in the foreground to the left: Bro Mathias, Bro Nicolas, Bro Ronald, Bro Noël

One of the Casa’s Missions is Reception. At the start of the year, the Community was asked to open its doors, and it is with Joy that the Brothers experienced once again, that there is more Joy in giving than in receiving.

And first of all, welcoming two New Confreres: Brother Nicolas Le Meilleur, who arrived from Benin after 20 years in Africa: he will be the Assistant to the Brother Bursar General, and will help with Accounting, one of his specialties! A New student arrived from Uganda: Brother Mathias Senfuka. He joined the Casa in July, for a good Italian bath with the Brothers of Sant’Ivo. He is a Student at the Pontifical Angelicum University, with Brothers Noël and Ronald.

Mass in the Parish after the Vigil in St Peter’s Square around the Bishop of Fulda (Germany)

At the end of September, the Casa began time for the Synod. First of all, she welcomed 6 Young Europeans who were participating in the “Meeting Together” gathering organized by the Taizé Community. They participated in St. Peter’s Square, with the Pope and Representatives of various Churches, in an Ecumenical Prayer Vigil in Praise and Silence, Listening to the Word. In the Parish, 30 to 40 Young people were welcomed.

The Casa also received Cardinal Chibly Langlois, Bishop of Les Cayes (Haiti). The latter had come to participate in the Consistory of September 30th, during which Pope Francis created 21 New Cardinals, and in the solemn opening of the Synod in Saint Peter’s Square, on Wednesday October 4th.

Congratulations to the new Doctor!

Bro Wilfried, put to the test !

On September 23rd, Brother Wilfried Fara, Superior of the Scholasticate of Abidjan, arrived at the Casa to put the finishing touches to his Doctoral Thesis. He brilliantly defended his Thesis on October 12th, entitled: “The Trinity as a Hermeneutic key in the Anthropology of HO Balthasar and J. Moltmann”. The members of the General Council, the Community of the Casa and that of our neighbors, the Fathers of Picpus, were well represented. Congratulations Brother Wilfried, and Good Mission to you!

Gilbert, at St Peter Square, after 2400 km by bike!

Another Unusual and Generous visit! That of Gilbert Rouvray, a 73-year-old from Damgan, who, after Pancreatic Cancer, took on the challenge of setting off from the Square in front of the Basilica of Sainte-Anne-d’Auray to reach the Vatican in Rome. Nearly 2,400 km during which he raised funds for the Espoir Pancréas Association. From the family of former Teachers at the Lycée La Mennais in Ploërmel and Colleagues of Brother Jean-Paul Peuzé, the link with the Casa was obvious. Claudine, Gilbert’s wife, joined him in Rome (and it was a moving surprise for Gilbert!) Bravo Gilbert! and thank you for this Testimony of Courage, Tenacity and Endurance in Faith.
Finally, for a few days, we have been welcoming Mgr Julien Andavo Mbia, Bishop of Isiro Nyangara (Congo DRC), at the Casa. He came to participate in the Ad Limina Visit of the Bishops of Congo DRC. In Isiro, the Brothers are responsible for the St Rosaire Institute (Diocesan Secondary School).

Enjoy your stay with us.
