Two Major Events of Grace marked the lives of the Brothers of the Saint Paul District of West Africa. These were the Spiritual Retreat of the Brothers of the TOGO-BENIN Sector and the District Chapter.

Indeed, from July 27th   to August 3rd, the Annual Retreat of the Brothers of the Togo-Benin Sector took place at the Dalwak Prayer House in Dapaong in Northern Togo. It was preached by Father Gilbert LIBINE, Chancellor of the Diocese of Dapaong on the Annual Theme of the Congregation “Pilgrims on the Path of Prayer”.

26 Brothers from Benin, Senegal, Ivory Coast and Togo participated in that Retreat. It was an opportunity for the Brothers, based on the Preacher’s Sermons, to start Anew from Christ after those Six Days at the feet of the Lord and Our Lady of Springs. In those discussions, the Brother Visitor, Brother Jean Baptiste NDIAYE, invited the Brothers to be Artisans of Peace in their Communities and Mission Sites.

The Second time of Grace that marked the life of the District in recent days was the District Chapter which was held from August 3rd   to 6th , 2025, just after the Retreat, at the Community of the Brothers’ Novitiate in Dapaong (North Togo) in the Presence of the Assistant General Brother Vincent SSEKATE, who himself presided over that Chapter.

After the Opening of the Chapter on Sunday Evening, 3rd, by the Brother Assistant, President of the Chapter, and his Introductory Speech, all the Capitulants proceeded to the Election of the Animator, the Moderator and the Secretary who were responsible for leading the Work of the Chapter. Between work in Committees and Debates in Plenary in a Fraternal Atmosphere, and under the assistance of the Holy Spirit, the Capitulant Brothers reflected during those Three Days on the Different Axes (5 in total) in order to adopt Texts which would Guide and Punctuate the Life and the Future of the District during the Next Six (6) years and even beyond.

The Aim was to reflect on the Calls that Our Life and the World today address to us, the New Challenges to be met, especially those of Pastoral Care of Vocations and Self-Sufficiency, and on the means to give ourselves in order to respond effectively to Our Mission as Mennaisian Educators in a constantly Changing World.

Two Lay People participated in that Chapter in order to be able to discuss together with the Brothers the Questions and Points concerning the Mennaisian Family. A Mass in Thanksgiving to the Lord for His assistance and for all the Graces received was celebrated at the End of the Chapter by Bishop Dominique GUIGBILE, Bishop of the Diocese of Dapaong, with Father Gilbert LIBINE as Concelebrant. Bishop Dominique did not, once again, fail to thank the Brothers for their presence and for all that they have done in the Diocese of Dapaong for several years. A Fraternal Meal shared in an Atmosphere of Joy closed the Evening before the Brothers returned the following day to their different Communities for some and for their stay with their Families for others.
