The Group in Formation – Br. Damien Habimana, Visitor of the District of Rwanda is in the Center.

That Formation was organized by the Service established by the Partnership Agreement between the Catholic Dioceses of Rwanda (CEPR) and the Conference of Major Superiors in Rwanda (COSUMAR). It was part of the Safeguarding Program that the Church has entrusted to the Protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary and called it “MEMORARE INITIATIVE” for Rwanda.

HE Mgr Edouard SINAYOBYE, Bishop of the Diocese of Cyangugu and President of the Foyer Ste Thérèse de l’Enfant Jésus during the Opening Conference of the First Phase of Training of 30 Trainers on Child Safeguarding.

It was provided by Father Albert NZABONALIBA, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the Catholic University of Rwanda and National Advisor to MEMORARE, assisted by Lay people, Clergy and Religious experienced in Psychology, Canon Law, Civil Law, Education and other areas of Child Protection.

The Group that began the Training was composed of 30 Selected People, from all over the Country and from various Professional and Pastoral Fields. It would work on 15 Modules in 110 hours and in 2 Phases: The First Phase was currently being held at the Remera Charity Home – Ruhondo (Ruhengeri) from August 24th to 30th, 2025; the 2nd Phase would be held at the Holy Spirit Center of the Oblate Sisters of Mbare (Kabgayi) from November 23rd to 29th, 2025.

Those two Phases would be supplemented by Short Online Sessions (E-learning) on dates to be set at the end of the First Phase.

Those who would receive that Training would be certified and recognized by the Church to conduct Training for Protection and Reporting Committees, as well as awareness-raising for Church Social Services Personnel in their Dioceses, Religious Congregations, or elsewhere in the Country.
