On Sunday, October 19th, 2025, the Educational Community of Brother Odile-Joseph School experienced a Highlight: the Profession of Brother Jean Roberson MATHIEU, Originally from Les Cayes and a Former Student of that School.

For the Occasion, Brother Hervé ZAMOR, Superior General, Brother Simon ALPHONSE, Provincial and ten Mennaisian Confreres and Lay People from the South-East and the North joined the Community of Les Cayes to surround Our Confrere, Pray and Celebrate with him and support him with their Fraternal Presence.

In his Homily, Cardinal Chibly, the Principal Celebrant, strongly emphasized the Primordial Dimension of Contemplation and Prayer in the Life of the Brother. He drew on the Image of the Raised Arms of Moses, who supported his People with Prayer. In a Dialogue with the Professed, he also exhorted him not to overestimate his Strength, but to pray constantly and count on the Support of his Brothers to keep his Arms raised to the Lord.

The Final Year Students played an important Role in the Animation of the Mass. Under the Leadership of Mrs. Marie Gertha MORIN (Madame Rose), they formed the Choir for the Occasion. The First-Year Students fulfilled Several Roles: Mime, Reception and Protocol Service, and Guides for the Delegation of the Primary School.

After Brother Roberson had taken his Vows, Cardinal Langlois expressed his joy by giving him a warm Embrace: a Gesture then repeated by the Superiors, then by all the Confreres present.

At the end of the Ceremony, the Brother Superior General, in a Message with a Catechetical Tone, explained to the Assembly, composed mainly of young People, the meaning of the Act that Brother Roberson had just performed: An Important Gesture for Himself, An Important Act for the Church, An Important Act for Children and Young People, An Important Act for the Lord. He concluded his Intervention by inviting his young Confrere to arm himself with Prayer to win in the Fight against the Temptations that would mark his Life and to cultivate Inner Peace.

The New Professed also spoke in these terms: “In taking these Perpetual Vows, I do not choose a Perfect Life, but a Life of Sacrifice. I do not choose Ease, but Fidelity. I do not choose Glory, but Service. And I did so with Joy, because I know that He who called me is Faithful. » He thanked everyone, especially his Former Professors who came in large numbers to the Ceremony: “A special thank you to the Teachers at Frère Odile-Joseph School, many of whom were my Teachers. You sowed in me the seeds of Knowledge, Rigor, and Faith. Your presence today is a source of Great Joy and Deep Gratitude for me.. “
The following Morning, Monday, October 20th, Brother Jean Roberson MATHIEU took advantage of the Weekly students Gathering at Frère Odile-Joseph College to thank them for their Significant Participation and Generous Contribution to the success of his Perpetual Profession Ceremony. He invited them to “do the same” by generously responding to God’s Call in their Lives.

The Celebration ended with a Fraternal Meal bringing together a good part of the Assembly who were present at the Church: the Celebrants, the Brothers, the Parents of Brother Roberson, the Teachers and Members of the Mennaisian Family of Les Cayes and a good Number of Students who were present at the Church of Saint Eugène de Mazenod.

The Clergy of the Parish of Saint Eugene de Mazenod were thanked for their Hospitality and its sense of Church.
