France: Vannes – Josselin – Ste Anne d’Auray: Jubilee of Saint Anne: Saint Anne Visits Saint-Martin House.

This year, the Diocese of Vannes celebrated the 400th Anniversary of the Discovery of the Statue of Saint Anne by Yvon Nicolazic (1625-2025). On March 7th, Bishop Centène of the Diocese of Vannes, at the Shrine of Sainte-Anne-d’Auray, launched the “Troménie de Sainte Anne”.

A “Troménie” in Brittany is a Long, Circular Procession through a given Territory. This Troménie crossed the Entire Morbihan Region, a distance of 1,800 kilometers, a Journey lasting more than Four Months. The Statue, installed at the back of a Decorated Carriage at Each Stop, would return to Sainte-Anne-d’Auray for the Great Pardon on July 26th.

On May 22nd, the Statue arrived by Boat on the Canal at the foot of Josselin Castle. For Three Days, it visited Schools, Churches in the Josselin Parish Community, and Several Retirement Homes.

On Saturday, May 24th, for an Hour, Saint Anne stopped at the Maison Saint-Martin, to the delight of Our 42 Residents. After the Traditional Song “Saint Anne, O Good Mother,” accompanied by a Bagpipe and a Bombarde, one of the Leaders recalled The History of Saint Anne’s Apparitions in Nicolazic, then a Short Scene which evoked the Life and Conversion of Pierre de Kériolet, a Breton Penitent who died in Sainte-Anne-d’Auray in 1660.

Songs prepared by the Brothers punctuated that Beautiful Moment. We could only subscribe to that Prayer of Jean-Pierre Calloc’h, Breton Poet, quoted by Bishop Centène on March 7th: “Teach me, my God, the words that awaken a people. I will go along the roads, a messenger of hope, to repeat them over my sleeping Brittany.”
