The Sisters received their Constitutions and pronounced their official vows 200 years ago."},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>200 years ago, the first Sisters pronounced their official vows. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Bicentenary in a row! <\/strong><strong>The Daughters of Providence of Saint-Brieuc founded by Jean-Marie de la Mennais and the first Mothers marked on this March 25<sup>th<\/sup> the 200 years of their Official Consecration.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor the interest, affection and protection of Father de la Mennais for our first Sisters, for those who have walked in their steps over the past two centuries, let us live this March 25<sup>th<\/sup> \u00a0in Thanksgiving!\u201d stressed Sr Huguette Provost, Superior General.<\/p>\n<p><strong>On March 25<sup>th<\/sup>, 1821,<\/strong> the first Sisters, Marie-Anne Cartel, Marie Connan, Fanny Chaplain and Esther Beauchemin, consecrated themselves to the Lord by pronouncing their vows and receiving their Constitutions from Father de la Mennais as Daughters of Providence.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_29822\" style=\"width: 870px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-29822\" class=\"size-large wp-image-29822\" src=\"http:\/\/www.lamennais.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/P-21-B-1024x795.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"860\" height=\"668\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lamennais.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/P-21-B-1024x795.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.lamennais.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/P-21-B-300x233.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.lamennais.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/P-21-B-768x596.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.lamennais.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/P-21-B-1536x1193.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.lamennais.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/P-21-B-2048x1590.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/www.lamennais.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/P-21-B-260x202.jpg 260w, https:\/\/www.lamennais.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/P-21-B-600x466.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 860px) 100vw, 860px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-29822\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>The Sisters also received the Constitutions of the Congregation.<\/em><\/p><\/div>\n<p>The reading of the primitive Rule of Life indicated the views of the Founder, writes Fr. Laveille, in the book \u201cJean-Marie de la Mennais\u201d. What he wanted was a Congregation appropriate to the needs of the new times, which could help him in his mission of &#8220;raising up ruins&#8221;, and work, without arousing distrust in the various works of charity inspired by the circumstances. An article assigned Education of young people as the only purpose of the new Society.
