IN UGANDA
On August 4, 1926, four Canadian brothers arrive at Entebbe after spending one year in England to improve their English. It is the beginning of the FIC work in Uganda.

75 years have passed and the Canadian brothers who founded the province, have left many years ago and made way for the 125 Uganda brothers only. They manage and animate some primary schools and about 10 secondary schools, as well as a university antenna for the formation of teachers, depending on the Catholic university of Nkozi. On the map, present and former colleges can be seen.

KISUBI
Mount Saint Teresa, in Kisubi, is the heart and head of the province. We can see there:

  • St.Mary’s College, a renowned secondary school with 850 students;
  • Two primary schools, Savio, with 650 students (practically all boarders like those at St.Mary’s) and St.Denis, a parochial school with 900 students;
  • The “postulate” and scholasticate (at a stone’s throw);
  • The university (academic) antenna for the formation of teachers;
  • and a series of residences and administration premises for the brothers
  • and the provincial.

At some kilometers from there, near Lake Victoria, stands a reception and recreation center, the Nabynonya Resort.

A young province.
The noviciate at Kasasa continues to receive every year the aspirants from Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya. About 40 brothers have taken temporary vows and most of them study at the university.

Consequently, the province can open new establishments:

  1. a new primary school at Kakooge in 2000;
  2. taking back the administration of Saint Léo’s College at Fort Portal in 2003;
  3. opening of the university antenna at Kisubi in 2004.

Moreover, the province contributed to a foundation at Méru, Kenya. The missionary spirit is an integral part of the charisma of the congregation.
