IN ITALY
“Procure” and General Administration
Formerly represented in Rome by the Procurator of another congregation, the Institute appoints her first representative following a decision taken by the 1921 General Chapter: Bro. Philippe Néri.
He finds accomodation with the Marist Fathers, via Cernaia.
In 1931, Istituto Sant’Ivo opens in the neighborhood of Monteverde, Rome. The “Procure générale”, the studying brothers’ residence, the juniorate and the school share the same building till the day when the school expansion requires the whole place. In 1946, the youngest aspirants are transferred to a nice property at Castelgandolfo.
In 1965, the “Procure générale” and the studying brothers move into a new residence on Via Divina Provvidenza. This residence is enlarged so as to receive the General Administration that leaves Jersey in 1972.
The Italian district
Istituto Sant’Ivo at Montaverde, a primary school, and Istituto San Giuseppe at Castelgandolfo, the former juniorate which became the community residence and reception center (for the second noviciate till 2002 and transient groups) are today the two establishments in the Italian “district” and had known only a limited development: 8 Italian brothers and 4 French brothers in 2004.
Since July 2004, these two communities belong to the Saint-Jean-Baptiste province of France. |
